This primary glider was built in Akureyri in the winter of 1937/38 and first flew in the spring of 1938. It is the first glider of Gliding Club of Akureyri (Svifflugfélag Akureyrar), which was formed in 1937. The plans and materials for the glider came from Germany. It was used for basic training until 1958. The average flight duration was about 4 minutes but many pilots were able to sustain flight for 20 minutes and thus gain the coveted C-badge. Many of Iceland's elder pilots learned the art of flying on this primary glider. The glider is fully airworthy and was last flown in June, 2004.
