Iscargo bought this DC-6A from Fred. Olsen of Norway in 1974. It was used for many and varied tasks performing cargo charters throughout Europe, Asia and Africa. It was also used for Iscargo's scheduled air freight services between Reykjavík and Rotterdam in the Netherlands. TF-IUB was last flown in 1981 and was broken up for scrap in 1983, but the forward section was saved.
The Douglas DC-6A was the cargo counterpart of the Douglas DC-6B Cloudmaster. On passenger services with Loftleiðir the DC-6B carried 85 passengers. In all there were 17 Douglas DC-6, DC-6A and DC-6B registered in Iceland on behalf of Loftleiðir - Icelandic Airlines, Icelandair - Flugfélag Íslands, Flughjálp - Aid By Air, Fragtflug, and Iscargo in the years between 1959 and 1981.
It is hoped that the cockpit can be restored for display inside, but presently all instruments and control are lacking.
