This airplane was delivered to the U.S. Army Air Forces in early October, 1943 and arrived in Iceland one month later. Since then it has only been operated in this country. Iceland Airways Ltd. (Flugfélag Íslands hf.) purchased the aircraft in 1946 and it was given a temporary registration on 26th July of that year. On 12th August 1946 the former USAAF 43-30710 was fully registered as TF-ISH. When Iceland Airways announced in 1948 that all aircraft were to be given the names of horses in the "faxi" series, TF-ISH was named "Gljáfaxi".

As this aircraft is airworthy and active it is not always on display in the museum.
