TF-SIF was delivered new to Landhelgisgæsla Íslands (The Icelandic Coast Guard) in November 1985. The helicopter was utilized for a variety of roles while in service with Landhelgisgæslan, including fisheries and coastal patrol, air ambulance, search and rescue, rescue training for seamen, and for crew training. It was in use with Landhelgisgæsla until 17th July 2007 when it was damaged in an offshore training excercise. In the almost 22 years that TF-SIF served the aircraft was aloft for some 7.056 hours and 35 minutes. It has been estimated that the use of TF-SIF was instrumental in the saving of at least 250 lives.
